Joshua Gottfriedsen is a proud member of Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development Corporation, the business arm of his home community. Raised in Tk̓emlúps and deeply rooted in Secwépemc values, Joshua brings a unique blend of cultural knowledge, business acumen, and creative experience to his work. His educational journey includes a Master of Business Administration in Indigenous Business and Leadership from Simon Fraser University and alumni status from both TRU and the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts. Prior to entering the business world, Joshua worked in the Vancouver film industry and remains passionate about the arts.
Joshua has long been involved in leadership at the local, regional, and national levels. From the age of 18 to 30, he held elected positions with the Assembly of First Nations, including Co-Chair of the National Youth Council. He has also served as a youth representative with the BC Assembly of First Nations, the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council, and the First Nations Youth Council of BC Association. Joshua’s guiding belief is that education—both traditional and academic—is a powerful tool for Nation rebuilding. Today, he is honoured to serve his community by helping lead the development of new business opportunities that reflect Secwépemc values and create long-term prosperity for future generations.

A new strategic plan is currently in development, shaped by the mandate letter provided by Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc leadership and aligned with the priorities outlined in that letter. This ensures our strategic direction is clear, focused, and positioned to deliver meaningful results for the community. The SEDC team works collaboratively across all areas of economic development—from business growth and community engagement to land development and operations. As a close-knit team, we carry a shared responsibility to serve with integrity and ensure the work we do reflects the needs and strengths of the community.
Sc.wén̓wen Land Development Corporation (SLDC) is one of the corporations under SEDC, focused specifically on land leasing and development. Because land is a foundational piece of economic development, our teams work closely together to ensure alignment, shared priorities, and responsible stewardship of TteS lands.
