Scwén̓wen Land Development Corporation (SLDC) is the land development side of Scwén̓wen Economic Development Corp. (SEDC). Formerly known as the Kamloops Indian Band Development Corporation (KIBDC), SLDC is responsible for managing and advancing land-based economic opportunities for Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc. Our work includes master planning, land leasing, and the development of key commercial, industrial, and mixed-use projects such as Chief Louis Crossing and 7Mile District. Through strategic planning, sustainable development, and culturally aligned decision-making, SLDC creates projects that deliver long-term benefits for the community while respecting the land and its history.
Leasing on reserve lands is a valuable pathway for economic growth and development, as these lands cannot be purchased or owned by outside parties. Instead, leasing provides an opportunity to utilize them for various purposes—such as commercial, industrial, residential, or agricultural use—without transferring ownership.
This approach enables communities to maintain control over lands, ensuring that all developments align with cultural values and long-term community goals. Leasing generates revenue, supports local programs, and enhances sustainability, all while upholding the legal and cultural integrity of reserve lands.
Leases may be arranged directly with TteS, individual TteS Members, or through subleases and sub-subleases from existing leaseholders.
Leasing Availability
For more information on land availability directly through the TteS, please reach out to the Tkemlúps te Secwépemc Lands Department
Individual TteS Members and those seeking to sublease often list available properties through MLS or privately. To stay informed about available opportunities, consider setting up an MLS alert or contacting a realtor.
Sc.wén̓wen Land Development Corporation (SLDC), a division of Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development, currently holds over 50 leases with TteS. These parcels are either carefully developed with care or strategically subleased to maximize their potential.
SLDC is currently engaged in several planning exercises and does not have any vacant land parcels available for sublease at this time. However, availability may change once the planning processes are completed.
