The Kamloops Clean Energy Centre (KCEC) is a proposed clean-energy project in partnership with Kruger pulp mill and Elemental Clean Fuels.

To be located at the Kruger pulp mill, the KCEC is a first-of-its-kind, green hydrogen production facility designed to support industrial decarbonization in our region.

Once operational, the facility is expected to produce up to four tonnes of green hydrogen and 32 tonnes of oxygen each day. The hydrogen will replace a portion of the mill’s natural gas use, while part of the oxygen output will be used directly in mill operations.

The Project has completed its initial feasibility work and is now in the front-end engineering and design (FEED) stage before any final investment decisions are made. Sc.wén̓wen received a grant from Natural Resources Canada to support both feasibility and the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) stages.
